Watch YouTube videos from your desktop

  • Nice, dark interface
  • Good graphics on video teaser images
  • Useful history button

  • Videos are slow to load, if they load at all
  • Logging into your YouTube account doesn't always work

Not bad

Tubbi is a desktop app for YouTube that runs on the Pokki platform.

YouTube is a widely popular video upload platform. You could literally sit around watching random (sometimes inane) content people uploaded for hours on end. So why not do it directly from your desktop? With Tubbi, you can.

Tubbi's a relatively simple way to watch anything published on YouTube without needing to actually visit the site to do it. It's got a nice, sleek interface as well. You don't even need to log into your YouTube account in order to browse.

The start-up screen on Tubbi shows an array of videos that are deemed the most watched for today. The video teaser images are great quality and colorful, making it easy to pick and choose what you want to watch. You can also use the search bar up top if you prefer to look for something specifically. In addition, Tubbi includes the ability to type in a direct video link to view it, offers a history button that drops down to show recently viewed videos, as well as a home screen to get you back to where you started.

Unfortunately, some videos take a long time to load, or won't play at all with Tubbi. Users might also find themselves unable to log into their own YouTube accounts despite going through the proper process as prompted by Tubbi.

Tubbi is a convenient Pokki desktop app for viewing YouTube videos, but it could stand to fix a few bugs to make it truly shine.
